Carmel Temple is a quiet sanctuary far away from the outer world of seeming chaos. It is a place of peace, healing, study, teaching, meditation, love, warmth, and friendship. Carmel is a loving place made available for all seekers of the Light. In 1970, Charlotte and Richard Sigler were led by their inner guidance, through meditation, to build Carmel Temple, as an instrument of enlightenment, healing, and especially love, which would be brought to many. And it continues to fulfill that mission.

Guest Speakers at 11:00 A.M. Sunday Service

We have regular services each Sunday morning at 11:00 A.M., featuring guest speakers—both local and national—embracing all worldwide philosophies and thought systems, who share with us their perspectives and experiences. Our only criteria are that their message be of a positive nature and helpful to those who hear it.

Carmel Temple regularly presents speakers on inspirational subjects. We do not necessarily endorse what they may say and it is up to the listener to accept or reject or shelve. New ideas and new personalities are always interesting and can stimulate thinking. Most philosophers insist, however, that TRUTH lies WITHIN, and it is well to remember the words from Brownings poem:

“TRUTH is within ourselves; it takes no rise from outward things, whate’er you may believe. There is an inmost centre in us all, where Truth abides in fullness.”

Events

Carmel has many interesting events scheduled. In addition to the Sunday service at 11:00 A.M. in the Sanctuary, a time of Quiet Meditation and The Healing Circle, with group sharing, are held on Wednesday nights. The latter is regularly attended by a dedicated group of like minded individuals. For details of all scheduled events, please click the Events Schedule. That information is updated weekly and gives detailed information about speakers and ongoing, special, and future events at Carmel.

The Upper Room

There are two very special places at Carmel. One is The Upper Room and the other is Blue-White Healing Light near the rear of the Sanctuary.

The Upper Room is reserved exclusively for quiet meditation. Many have sought answers, gained insight, and enjoyed the very special energy present. Any visitor to Carmel may visit the Upper Room, with the only request being that you do not talk, in order that the energy not be disturbed.

Blue-White Healing Light

The second special place at Carmel is beneath the Blue-White Healing Light, near the rear of the Sanctuary. Each Wednesday night we have a special healing meditation there. We also have a short healing time there after the Sunday service. Each person who attends is invited to sit in one of the chairs under the light. We ask everyone else present to project healing energy to those in the chairs by visualizing them in their perfection.

Crystal Prayer Request Bowl

Carmel Temple’s Crystal Prayer Request BowlThe Crystal Prayer Request Bowl is used to collect prayer requests sent to Carmel Temple. It is placed under the Blue-White Healing Light at the beginning of healing sessions in the Sanctuary. The prayer requests then receive the energy and prayers of those present. We encourage you to place into the bowl the name (even the initials will do) of the person, persons, or situations that need prayer or healing energy. This procedure has been very effective and that bowl has an excellent reputation! We encourage you to use it. When the bowl is full, those prayer requests are gathered and placed in the walls of The Upper Room, where they continue to receive the powerful energy of that special place. This loving practice has been used since Carmels beginning.
For many years, Carmel Temple has provided a prayer request line by telephone. You may still place your prayer request by calling Carmel Temple at (713) 944-0014. Now you may also email a prayer request right here by clicking on this Prayer Request link and typing your request into an email message. All prayer requests will be collected from our e-mail and from our telephone system and placed in the Crystal Prayer Request Bowl at Carmel Temple. This loving practice has been used since Carmels beginning in 1970. Either way, your request will be placed in the bowl for you and it will be included in the healing sessions.

Weve added a Photo Gallery to the website so you can see what Carmel Temple looks like, even if youve never visited us. To see it, click here or click the “Photo Gallery” link in the sidebar menu on the left.

Carmel Temple’s Funding

From the beginning, Spirit has worked miracle after miracle here at Carmel and we continue to follow this spiritual direction. We were directed NOT to pass a collection plate at services and to present all events, workshops, and functions on a love offering basis. Nonetheless, we do want to acknowledge that it is your love offerings that keep Carmel Temple open and we sincerely thank you each and every one for them.
